From Visual Capitalist - Video Surveillance Around the World. The CCTV camera was installed in Germany in 1942. In 2021, 79 years later, we will reach 1 billion cameras installed around the world. China and India lead the world with the highest density. No.1 city is Chennai India (657 cameras per square kilometer (psk); No.2 Hyderabad India (480); No.3 Harbin China (411); No.4 London UK (399); No.5 Xiamen China (385). Capital city of Beijing China has 1.1 million cameras installed. 

From Retail Dive - Holiday Retail Season in Review. Black Friday was unlike any other that came before with retailers actively  looking to keep consumers out of stores. Shopping started much earlier in November through heavy discounting. Online shopping on Black Friday hit records. Foot traffic overall  dropped 50% and in malls dropped 53.4%. E-marketer predicted 36% increase in online sales to $190 billion. Retailers expect returns to increase 50% to 100% this year vs last, costing $280 billion. Macy's parade attendance intentionally cut by 75%. Nordstrom charged $20 for a virtual video call with Santa. 

From Bloomberg - Retail Boom and Bust 2020 in Ten Charts. No.1 Toilet paper was on a roll with sales in a single week in March up 236%; No.2 Online grocery charts fill up. Nearly 10% of grocery sales in 2020 were online, will increase to 20% by 2025; No.3 Big Tickets. Customers made fewer shopping trips, but spend more per trip. Walmart per trip sales up over 20% in Q3; No.4 Stuff Rules. We love to shop. Sales dropped dramatically in March, but have not fully recovered  to pre-pandemic levels; No.5 Spending shifts. We shifted from dressy clothes and food we consume in ballparks to frozen foods, massage appliances, crocs, printers, mattresses, snowshoes, rice cookers, bicycles, and hair masks. Non-store sales up 23%, DIY up 13%, food beverage up 12%; No.6 The zoom phenomenon. Breakout brands such as Pelaton and Etsy emerged; No.7 Store shakeout. More than 11,000 stores closed. This followed 10,000 stores closed in 2019. No.8. Rough run fo workers. The number of workers in retail have not recovered to pre-pandemic levels.; No.9 Dining devastation. A staggering 110,000 closings amid capacity restrictions and increased dining at home; No.10 Paying the price. Unique year for retailers to raise prices. Double digit price increases in spices, dish detergent, luncheon meats, frozenmeat, rice, BBQ sauce, spaghetti sauce, and cups / plates.
