From D&D Daily Q3 / 2020 Retail Robbery Report. YTD robberies stable at 4,091 thru Q3 vs 4157 last year. Q3 robberies lowest on record to 1278. Top 3 sectors: convenience, jewerly, and restaurants. 37% armed, 31% unarmed, 32% burglaries. Highest robbery days Sunday and Monday. Top 3 states: Texas, New York, and California. Chicago overtook Houston from last year for most robberies. 

From D&D Daily Q3/2020 Organized Retail Crime (ORC) report. Year to date ORC cases down 25% on last year, lowest since 2014. Q3 dollar amount down 52% on last year, lowest since 2016. Total number of ORC cases in Q3 311. Theft / shoplifting 74%, robbery & burglary 14%, credit card fraud 5%. Top three merchandise slolen: electronics, tools & hardware, clothing. Top 3 states in Q3: Florida, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. 

From Raconteur as published in the London UK times, the annual Future of Retail Report. American to spend $1387 this year on holidays, down 7%. Gift and gift cards down 5%. Non-gift purchases including non-gift clothing, home / holiday furnishings, plus other up 12%. Socializing  away from home and travel down 34%. Six forecasts for the next retail decade: By 2021, return of the physical store and personalized offers; by 2030, blended retail experiences and customer expectations rules; by 2030, smart supply chains and seamless shopping. 

Consumers are expected to spend, on average, $1,387 per household this holiday season – down 7% from 2019. Spending is expected to shift to non-gift purchases – up 12% from last year.
